Jubilee Syringe, the largest Syringe Manufacturing Company in Africa, with production capacity of 400 million syringes annually, has commenced recruitment into various offices and departments, in order to enhancing its production capacity and create more job opportunity for Nigerians.

Seven vacant positions were recently advertised for interested candidates to apply. The positions were; West African Sales Manager, Nursing Personnel(s), Procurement Assistant(s), Production Assistant(s), Logistics Assistant(s), Quality Control Inspector(s) and Syringe Packagers.

Following the advertisement for the above listed positions for employment, the company, having received several applications, conducted screening interviews for over 253 qualified applicants on November 27, 2019. Most applications were submitted through the company’s website (careers.jubileesyringe.com).

The screening exercise which was both oral and written interviews were supervised by top management staff of the company including the Managing Director, Mr. Akin Oyediran, Human Resource Officer, Ayomide Oke, Production Engineer, Babajide Kotun, Production Manager, Farukh Shahzad, Quality Control Manager, Mary Mendi among others.

Speaking after the exercise, Mr. Oyediran, expressed satisfaction at the level of intellectual alertness and disposition displayed by the applicants during the process. He lamented that although most of the applicants who came for the interview showed tremendous qualities, intellect and readiness to work, the vacancies available were however, limited.

Mr. Oyediran called on other cooperate organizations in the country, especially in Akwa Ibom State, to emulate Jubilee Syringe in employing more youth, noting that thousands of Nigerians youth are employable, having garnered the right academic qualifications, character and intellect.

He said Jubilee Syringe will continue to give opportunities to the right and qualified persons to come in and contribute to the growth and advancement of the company, adding that the company was built for the purpose of adding values to the lives of the people within and outside the country.

Mr. Akin promised that all successful candidates will undergo different forms of training to enable them fit perfectly into the vison and ideals of the company. Oyediran stressed that training and retraining of workers has been one of the cardinal reason why Jubilee Syringe is making great strides.

Some of the applicants who spoke after the exercise expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the screening. They said although the question posed were quite difficult and core professional, they were certain that they gave their very best, and were hopeful for a better outcome.

Other said that they were quite impressed with the facility at the factory and thanked the investors for bringing such a huge investment to Akwa Ibom State. They said if employed by the company, they will do their very best to add value to the company.

One of the applicant, Mr. Godwin Friday Udo, who applied for the position of Production Assistant, said he could not hold his joy when he read on the internet the vacancies available at Jubilee Syringe. He said he immediately applied and was called for the screening. Udo said since he finished his University programme some 5 years ago, he has been without any reasonable job, and that is why he was elated when he was called for the interview.

Udo observed that while most companies fill in vacant positions secretly, Jubilee Syringe acted professionally by advertising for vacancies and conducting interviews in order to employ the best hands. He expressed optimism that he was certain of getting the job because of the level of transparency during the exercise and his performance.

In his reaction, Chief Akpadiaha Ekanem, a traditional chieftain in Awa community, said he was delighted that Jubilee Syringe is keeping to it promise of providing employment to their children. He said since the company arrived the area, the youth, both male and female have been employed directly or indirectly by the company. Chief Ekanem promised that as one of the leaders in the area, they will always provide the enabling environment for the company to succeed.

The highly respected community leader advised the company not to compromise on its already high standard, noting that the huge number of applicants seen during the screening exercise is a testimony that the firm was doing quite well.

The number of persons who turned out for the interview at the company’s premises was huge. From the entrance of the gate to the reception and through the waiting room, applicants inundated the entire building. Experience shows that apart from employment into the state’s civil service and of course, few other establishments, one hardly sees such crowd during recruitment. This further gives credence to the fact that Jubilee Syringe is among the highest employers of labour in the state.

It would be recalled that in April 2017, before the commissioning of the factory by Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Jubilee Syringe had sent 12 Nigerians to Turkey for advanced training in Quality Control, Operation of Injection Machines, Molding and Packaging. The company in the last over 2 years has employed many into different departments with a mandatory training for optimal productivity.

Since its commissioning and commencement of operations in Akwa Ibom, Jubilee Syringe has steadily increased its production capacity. Having started with 350 million annually, the company has now upped its production ante to 400 million syringes annually, with more yearning to double the present capacity. The increase in production explains why the company’s staff strength is increasing rapidly in order to meet set target.

Jubilee Syringe has in the last over 2 years contributed massively to Nigeria, mostly in the area of employment, the state, in the area of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the host communities, in the area of its social cooperate responsibility policy. In 2018, the company donated academic materials to several Secondary and Primary schools in Onna Local Government Area of the state, while plans are on ground by the company to support more schools to enhance the academic advancement of the people of the area.
